You're speaking from the level of the rational mind, which is usually perceived as being incapable of appreciating deeper realities. It is also the rational mind which often believes that it is in possession of the truth. You may be familiar with the aphorism, “the map is not the territory”. All the language used around these topics is merely a map.

For what it's worth, the Nothingness would be a self-contained consciousness, and only able to perceive itself, in a way that we can't understand.
