Your question (so what?) and your argument seem to be based on a deist view of the ultimate cause, a Creator who brought the universe into existence, but then just lets it get on with it, and isn't much bothered by what happens. This is what leads you to say that “it makes not a scrap of difference either way”.

As you say the 'Creator' doesn't have to be perfect, omnipotent, omniscient, but I think you go to far when you say “as the Universe is flawed and subject to decay and error, so is the Creator, by necessity”. I don't think that follows logically, but that would require a long philosophical piece which I'm not going to do here. Watch out for future articles.

I find no evidence for and cannot subscribe to such a deist view, but again that's too long a topic for here.

It would be great if we humans could find solutions to human problems. Most of these problems, however, are caused by people lacking in a spiritual viewpoint – atheists, materialists, money-obsessed businesses etc. It seems to me that it is only people with a spiritual viewpoint (believers in a Creator?) who have any constructive ideas about solutions. That's the answer to your question 'so what'. Believers tend to be highly motivated to solve the world's problems as humans, and don't expect rescue from the stars.
