You may be right, but my understanding is that what you are referring to is now called Qabalah, in order to distinguish it from the older tradition of Kabbalism.

The problem is that people of all traditions and religions sometimes make unsubstantiated claims about the antiquity of their beliefs, in order to give them more authority.

Thus some Kabbalists claim that their tradition goes back to Moses, for example: “This is the meaning of the words “Moses received the Torah at Sinai.” In Hebrew the word for received is “kibel” which is also the root of the word Kabbalah (received) for the mystical tradition like all other parts of Torah received at Sinai is not a product of any human mind, however sophisticated”.
