Yes I know that. The Babylonian tradition was inherited from the Sumerians, and the original story bore no relation to anything remotely like Judaism or monotheism. It seems that the Jews picked up the story during the exile, and adapted it for their purposes. The references to rivers remain, but there is no longer any need to interpret it literally.
