Wow, that's controversial. So in less general terms, do you have any names or groups?

The next question would therefore be, do you think the story is completely fictional, or did the writers actually believe it? (From what you've just written I assume you think the former, which might lead one to wonder why you still call yourself a Christian.)

If the story is fictional, what about the whole of the New Testament, especially Paul? Is he a fictional character?

Have you come to this theory purely on your own initiative, or are there sources?

I don't know whether you spotted a recent article of mine. Matthew invited me to have a discussion about the historical Jesus. In my first article I mentioned five alternative theories about Jesus and the New Testament, the fifth of which was that “the New Testament was written by the Romans, therefore Christianity was essentially a fraudulent fiction”. Matthew dismissed this - and the other four - as mad conspiracy theories that no one takes seriously.
