Very Bad Wizards is right about panpsychism; it merely relocates the problem. Goff adopts it because of the problems of materialism and dualism; there seems no logical alternative, even if it seems unlikely.

Are you aware of the philosopher/scientist Bernardo Kastrup? He is especially critical of panpsychism, because it does not go far enough. He argues for idealism, i.e. that consciousness is primary, and therefore needs no explanation. If anything, it is matter that requires explanation – how is it that consciousness can appear as matter? He is very convincing, or so it seems to me, although on Medium Paul Austin Murphy has argued against him in 2 recent articles.

I don't think that all the scientific knowledge we’ve accumulated throughout the centuries should prevent us from considering some odd metaphysical concepts. After all, science only deals with the material world.
