There is never any harm in questioning any fundamental belief. That would include atheism, secularism, and all sorts of other things, including the belief that religion is bad for you. Of course there are lots of bad things about religion, as you describe. But, as I perceive it, you are complaining about the bad behaviour of humans, specifically 'religious' humans, not about religion itself. True religion is opposed to all the things you describe. Just about anything in life has a good and bad side. Science, for example, can be used for both good and evil purposes.

Of course we all respect anyone's right to hold a belief, but perhaps you should question this fundamental belief of yours a little more rigorously. For example, to what extent is my hostility to religion the product of the bad experiences in my upbringing? Are there deeper levels to religion [spirituality?] that I'm missing?
