The Gaia Hypothesis is not earth-centric. It merely focuses on what is observable to us, given where we live. The same logic also applies to the cosmos, which is also a living organism. Gaia is one organism within a larger organism.

Panpsychism perhaps, but that doesn't go far enough. Idealism is probably more accurate.

As for teleology, top down or bottom up determination does really matter. How could there be teleology if things are bottom up?
