The Big Bang is of course just a theory, but when so many professional physicists and cosmologists accept it uncritically, it makes non-specialists like me hesitant to criticise.

My belief is also that matter once did not exist. Your “original energy” is, I believe, what Genesis 1 calls 'light'. Indeed, not all original energy ended up becoming matter, some of it became mind, psyche etc.

“matter as damaged original energy” - physicist Fred Alan Wolf calls matter “gravitationally trapped light”.

“The story need not be any more complex than neutrons, protons, quarks and electrons”, but that of course depends on what we understand by these terms, as you explain.

On the whole, you are trying to explain this whole process from a scientific perspective, which I'm not qualified to comment upon. I approach the same material from a spiritual perspective.
