While I have great respect for all religious traditions including Islam, as a non-Muslim I don't feel compelled to follow the teachings of the Quran (three different translations of which I own).

If “Allah alone has control over the universe and everything within it”, then He would be responsible for any activities of celestial bodies.

If Islam indeed “encourages the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the natural world”, then it's possible that it may have to revise some of its values and beliefs.
