Thanks for your response. In your haste to criticise I think you've missed my point. I didn't say that the various -isms are analogous to a religion. My point was that various people worship them in the same way, i.e. can be equally fanatical.

You say I left out atheism. This shows how little attention you were paying. I quote the article: “Some obvious examples of ‘-isms’ that can be worshipped with a religious passion are: socialism, communism, fascism, atheism, humanism, and existentialism”.

On Jungism, Jung himself said, “thank God I am Carl Jung and not a Jungian”. He was obviously aware of the tendency.

Regarding the newborn you refer to, it is obvious that the religious tendency I refer to would not manifest until later, not at the newborn stage. People are indeed indoctrinated into religions when they are young, and I am equally appalled as you. But that isn't what I was talking about.

I agree with your analysis of Christianity up to a point, not sure about the first part.

Regarding your criticism of Jung, can you provide me with the exact Nazi apologist quotes you are referring to. Your quote from Richard Wolin seems somewhat one-sided to put it mildly. To say that Jews are more cerebral than Aryans is hardly grounds for calling someone anti-semitic. What's wrong with being cerebral?

Did Jung nominate Hitler uncritically as such a Nietzschean shamanic figure, or was he merely describing him? (I don't know the answer. Can you provide me with a quote?)

His notion of archetypes was based upon his lifelong study of the human psyche. I have no idea what you're talking about when you mention “Aryan iconography”. He was not antithetical to Asian traditions, rather had a deep understanding of them. He perceived himself to be part of the Western tradition, however.
