You ask, where in the Bible does God claim to be good? Another responder to my article drew my attention to a passage in Isaiah 45: “I am the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating evil; I am the Lord who does all these”.

This would seem to support your argument (and mine).
