It's interesting that the two paths reached the same conclusions. That may be a possible indication that there is some truth in them.
Waters may equal dark matter, but that would need some elaboration. The existence of dark matter is merely hypothesised because observations of the universe do not match the predictions of the current scientific worldview. That means it might not really exist, and that it is the worldview that needs changing.
It's likely that what is causing the anomalies are other levels of existence, what Genesis calls the higher and lower waters. The higher levels are often called mental or causal, so in that sense the waters might be considered to be dark matter, or at the least the explanation for it.
Your translation of Bereshit is very interesting and resonates with the sources I'm discussing in the series. As you say, it's hard to find a source for this.
