I'm guessing that Jung shunning a chance to meet Ramana Maharshi was some kind of statement along these lines, that Westerners were not yet ready for the Eastern approach. He was trying to make a point. I sometimes wonder, if one believes in reincarnation, that the Jungian approach is more relevant to Westerners at their current stage of development, in preparation for Eastern practices in later incarnations.
