Spinoza, and therefore Pantheism, probably didn't go far enough. Was he saying that God is made of matter? Probably not. Rather that matter is a manifestation of God, which is pure consciousness, therefore matter is a type of consciousness. This philosophy is called Idealism.

Also the material universe is maintained in existence by the divine mind, which therefore must stand outside it, a philosophy known as panentheism, God both transcendent and immanent.
