No issue with what you say here, but this leads me to suspect that brain and mind/consciousness are separate. If Vitalism has truly been discredited, then surely consciousness can only be a by-product of the brain, in which case one has to seek some kind of biological explanation for its origin. This has so far proved impossible (we cannot take Daniel Dennett’s ramblings seriously). Therefore vitalism/animism remains an option.
