It seems to me that the two positions are really saying the same thing. Idealism says that nothing exists except consciousness. Dual aspect monism says that mind and matter (two different levels of reality) are ultimately manifestations of a deeper oneness, i.e. consciousness.

Humans seem to enjoy arguing over semantics, however.
