I agree with you that the scientific process is the only way to verifiable, objective knowledge. But science should recognise that some realms lie outside its scope of current enquiry, and should not deny their existence simply because they are currently unverifiable.
If they at least accepted that, then they could begin to contemplate alternative research programs. That could only begin when such neuroscientists reconsider their assumptions.
