I'm wondering in exactly which countries you think it is easier to cross the abyss. I think it would be equally hard here in the UK, although I accept that the situation in the US is worse. I think in the past you have quoted Peter Kingsley's book Catafalque. That shows exactly how hard this was, at least in the case of Jung. In the US, despite the problems, you have a wonderful tradition of 'New-Age' spirituality: Transpersonal Psychology, Native American wisdom, and places like the Esalen Institute. There must still be room for hope for you over there.
