If you're not already familiar with it, the physicist Paul Davies' book The Cosmic Blueprint is relevant. He is not talking as you are here, but he is asking all the right questions. He is basically saying that you cannot explain embryonic development from a physicalist perspective, that there must be hidden blueprints. So where are they?
