I don't think you were sloppy. Your meaning was clear. As you said, a powerful paranormal experience should change one's worldview. However, as the two examples I used demonstrate, some people are just too entrenched.

I was also fortunate enough to have an experience that rocked my world and made it impossible for me to return to my previous worldview. I too was emerging from a state of extreme depression, so it seems that our experiences were similar.
