I do actually prefer truth over faith. People are told to take things on faith, when it cannot be proved that they are true, and also when they probably aren't.

Where did I refer to the “truth of Christianity”?

I'm sorry but the whole of the next paragraph is such a ramble that I don't know how to respond.

Unfortunately in recent times, the word myth has been taken to mean a fictional story, i.e. not true. It is a consequence of the philosophical and scientific movement known as the Enlightenment. Modern dictionaries may well have taken that trend on board.

Myth originally meant something completely different. I refer you a much more relevant quote from Ananda Coomaraswamy: “Myth embodies the nearest approach to absolute truth that can be stated in words.”
