I agree with your general thrust. I personally wouldn’t use the terms ‘meme’ and ‘infect’ in this context, although they make sense and I understand why you’re using them. I would prefer ‘mythologem’, and say that the idea of the dying-and-resurrected-saviour-god exerts a strong archetypal fascination on the human psyche.
