Nietzsche may have been a masochist. I'm not widely read in his opus, but suspect he is much more than that.

If you think that Jung was merely a psychiatrist, I suggest that you read Catafalque by Peter Kingsley; you might change your mind.

I'm in general agreement with your other comments, although I would add the Greek pre-Socratics to your list at the end.
