I think a long time ago being spiritual and religious were the same thing. And they still should be! Even though most people would call me spiritual but not religious, I long for the time when this situation would return. As you point out the separation has occurred because of the failings of organised religions.

I study and listen to what all traditions have to say, including science, and try to sift out the best. I especially like Hinduism, Taoism, Gnosticism, and Carl Jung. Also interesting are Kabbalah, Sufism, Native American traditions. So I think of myself as a free-thinking religious person, non-attached.
