Hi John. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

If most people, most of the time, are good people, it's a shame that so few of them reach high office in politics, especially in the USA. I assume you are referring to voters.

You say that the middle is bigger than either side. This sounds as if the Democrats are to the left of the middle. I frequently read, however, that the majority of Americans are to the left of both parties. That makes sense to me, although I may be more focussed on foreign policy rather than domestic issues. The Democrat Party doesn't choose leftish candidates like Sanders. That is perhaps because they assume they won't win.

I'm not sure that America is the greatest country on earth – you would have to elaborate. If you are the least racist country on earth, you must have made some really quick progress since the days of segregation and the KKK, not that long ago. I would like to see some evidence for what you say. From where I stand, some European countries, especially the Scandinavian, would seem less racist.

You say you should not be policing other countries or going to war. But that is what America is constantly doing. Have you heard the argument that your economy is dependent on being constantly at war?

Whatever happens publicly regarding Congress when you go to war, that doesn't mean that you are being told the truth about what's going on, thus the real reasons. Just think about the cover-up around UFOs. The same may apply.

Indeed the left doesn't like free speech, and that is a big problem. You are certainly not alone in fearing the left. So do I. The extreme form has to be resisted at all costs.

True democracy is not a nightmare. Is America a true democracy, however, or are both parties controlled by what is sometimes called the Deep State? That would seem to be the case, at least when it comes to foreign policy.
