Hi David.

Your impression is correct.

I would say that knowing the truth about Christianity starts with a sincere inner search, and trust that the Holy Spirit will lead us to the truth.

I agree that all Christian spirituality must have Christ at the centre. I probably differ from you in that I see Christ as primarily a spiritual figure, and am unclear as to precisely what connection that has with Jesus, although I'm reasonably sure that there is one.

On that theme, here's a little anecdote for your contemplation. You're presumably familiar with Simon Magus. I've been reading Alfred Ribi's book on Jung The Search for Roots. Here's a passage: “In an episode during the summer of 1916, recorded in his journal and recounted on the last pages of Liber Novus, Jung was walking in the garden with Philemon (his inner guide and master). A figure appeared to them; Jung identified him in the journal as Christ. Philemon addressed Christ, “My master, my brother”. Christ responded, but recognized Philemon as Simon Magus. Philemon explained to Christ that his name was once Simon Magus, but that now he has become Philemon”.

Regarding my conversion experience, it would take far too long, nor would I want, to go into detail. The essential point is that in the middle of a long period of weirdness, during which I had become accustomed to the presence of an inner guide, I was seeking an answer to a question perhaps over the period of a day, but at the important moment I was walking down a street, asking that question inwardly. Then I suddenly noticed a message on a church board on the other side of the road, which gave the answer. (This is what Jung would call a synchronicity.) At that moment there was an explosion inside my head, which precipitated several hours of inner chaos, and which changed my life forever.
