Briefly, as I see it, the difference between Creationism and ID is that Creationists are Christians who accept the literal truth of the Bible, specifically Genesis, and who then try to force science to conform with that. Advocates of ID often are Christians, but make scientific arguments, claiming that the natural world shows evidence of design - in simple terms, that it is far too complex to have come about by blind, random processes.

The issue is confused because opponents often try to equate ID with Creationism, in order to discredit it.
