I'll leave you to do online research but in simple terms transformation of consciousness is the purpose of many religions/spiritual traditions, the most obvious being Buddhism which is derived from Hinduism.

Traditions can be separated into those that are exoteric and those that are esoteric. Also each religion can have both aspects. It is the esoteric traditions that focus on transformation of consciousness. Examples would be Buddhism, Hinduism, Sufism, Gnosticism, Kabbalism (an esoteric form of Judaism), neo-Platonism.

And there is indeed esoteric Christianity. Check out Meister Eckhart and Jakob Böhme from ancient times, and more recently Richard Rohr. As someone brought up a Catholic, you might find David Steindl-Rast interesting.
