I agree with your conclusion. There is obviously a big problem. There is the Bible itself, but that is what is different from what the various Churches have taught about it. They say that is divinely inspired and perhaps inerrant, although there is very little evidence for that, and good reason not to believe it. So the problems you describe can be attributed to the Churches.

In my perception a major new Reformation of Christianity is required. I've already written extensively about this on Medium. Here is a link to my list.

A public figure who also sought a new Reformation was Bishop John Shelby Spong. I've written quite a lot about him in my series so far.
