Great article. There may be a quibble on one point, however.

You say “the Hindu thinks matter depends on consciousness for its existence. Matter is an idea within consciousness, a way of perceiving reality”, and therefore conclude that “matter is not-conscious. It isn’t animated and moving in response to inner forces, its movement is determined by the outer forces which act on it”.

That is certainly one way of looking at it. If we say, however, that matter is an IDEA within consciousness, doesn't that imply that matter is in some sense composed of consciousness, and therefore may be conscious itself? (This is sometimes cautiously stated as 'proto-conscious'.) Thus the philosophies of panpsychism, and idealism. That is the direction in which some quantum physicists (e.g. David Bohm, and Danah Zohar) and philosophers (e.g. Philip Goff) are going.
