Far from not being able to prove it beyond a doubt, there is very little reason to believe in ontological naturalism at all. Hence, among other things, the hard problem of consciousness. 'Hard' doesn't do it justice, it is insoluble. This is leading growing numbers of philosophers to move in the direction of panpsychism and idealism. Consciousness doesn't come from anywhere else; it is the fundamental nature of reality.
