Everyone’s Book of the Dead
That’s the title of a new book by Tim Wyatt. I should declare an interest; he is a friend of mine. His title is obviously referencing others — The Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Egyptian Book of the Dead — but this one is for the general reader. The subtitle is A panoramic compendium of death, dying, the after-death states, karma and reincarnation throughout world history.
That is more or less self-explanatory regarding the contents. Such a book is especially necessary at the present time, as various so-called ‘scientists’ try to persuade us that we have only one life, that death is the end, that consciousness is an epiphenomenon of the brain, that the self is an illusion, that the soul does not exist, and other such falsehoods. Thus Richard Dawkins has said: “Religion teaches the dangerous nonsense that death is not the end”. Tim, on the contrary, argues persuasively that the dangerous nonsense is actually what materialist science teaches us.
The book is packed with information on a wide variety of subjects: the true nature of humans according to ancient spiritual traditions, the various levels of being, what happens at death, evidence for reincarnation, what happens in between incarnations, clairvoyant investigations of foetal growth, group souls in the kingdoms of nature below the human, and accounts of out-of-body, near-death experiences and past-life regressions. As a bonus, the book is lavishly and beautifully illustrated.
In addition to being a life-long spiritual explorer, Tim has been a journalist, novelist, playwright, film director, actor, musician, funeral celebrant, and more. Find out about him and his books at www.firewheelbooks.co.uk.
