Consciousness and the Self
I just came across an interesting quote from philosopher Jay Richards regarding modern neuroscience’s materialist view that the self does not exist, that it is merely chemicals acting in the brain. He says: “This is the dilemma of materialism in a nutshell. You have selves writing books trying to convince other selves that neither of them exists.”
