As you say, the Bible does seem to be consistent on that point.

Studying the Bible is not the same as believing. As you may have gathered, I've studied the Bible quite a lot, although obviously not as much as you.

As regards 'evidence', it would be interesting to hear what evidence Christians can come up with to support your viewpoint, apart from just quoting the Bible.
