Also, are you familiar with Philip Goff's book Galileo's Error? He is in favour of Occam's Razor, thus simplicity, but points out that this has led in the past to choosing the LESS LIKELY explanation. He is discussing Einstein v. Lorentz on relativity. "It is good scientific practice to go with the theory that is simple and elegant rather than the theory that preserves common sense" [p135].

So perhaps biologists and materialists shouldn't be so keen on what they perceive to be the more likely explanation.
