All that, and you haven't mentioned the extra problem that the team heading the examination and translation of the scrolls was headed by a scholar from the Vatican, Roland de Vaux - not exactly a great choice when something is discovered that might challenge conventional Christianity. There were then inexplicable delays in publishing, and other scholars being denied access.
